Reporting up the Chain for Accounting Firms: Deep Insight with Microsoft Dynamics GP

Email | Print

In the Microsoft Dynamics® GP general session at Convergence 2011, Pam Misialek, Senior Product Manager of Microsoft Dynamics GP, mentioned how reporting was the number one thing end users look for in ERP software. This is definitely true for our clients. If you think about it, all departments and roles need reporting tools in some way or form. Let’s take an accounting firm’s three main roles and see how reporting comes into play for each of them:

Certified Public Accountants (CPA’s): Accountants have various clients they work with. Each of those clients has their own financial accounts, taxes, etc. that the CPA is working on for them. When clients pay someone to help with their finances, they don’t expect to shuffle through papers and papers of numbers. They expect a clean report that summarizes their information for them; simplifying the data so they know where they stand at all times, financially.

Senior Accountants: Senior level accountants have a bit more to manage and are responsible for the information they report up the chain. They need to ensure proper management of their team so that customer/client service remains high across the organization. In order to do this, they need a full snapshot into how their teams of CPA’s are doing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Chief Executive Officer’s (CEO’s) and Chief Financial Officers (CFO’s): The data reported up to the CEO’s and CFO’s is critical to how the company is run. Their business decisions depend on the integrity of that data and ultimately decide the fate of the company’s success.

Because Microsoft has identified the importance of reporting across thousands of users, their agenda aligns with that of businesses out there today. Reporting capabilities within Microsoft Dynamics GP make it easy to report up the chain with accurate and real-time information.
