Simplify Chart of Account Set up when Switching to Microsoft Dynamics GP from QuickBooks

Email | Print

Structuring the chart of accounts should be based on what you want to see in financial reports. It should be thought out very carefully prior to any other setup because it does affect everything within your accounting solution.  When developing a chart of accounts, you must consider the business type, industry, business function, standard industry practices, the needs of managers, the possibility of inter-company transactions and the flexibility of your structure, to name a few.

If you’re moving to Microsoft Dynamics® GP from software, such as QuickBooks, you may want to change or modify your existing chart of accounts structure and existing account numbers to better define how transactions are distributed and reported in Microsoft Dynamics GP. The problem is that once the QuickBooks data is imported into Microsoft Dynamics GP, making changes can be a time consuming process.

In the Rapid Migration Tool, once the data is extracted from the QuickBooks data file, you are now given the opportunity to modify your chart of accounts (edit account descriptions and numbers) before your data is imported into Microsoft Dynamics GP. New segments can also be added to existing numbers, allowing you to go from the seven character QuickBooks limitation to Microsoft Dynamics GP’s more robust segmented account structure. Migrating from QuickBooks is now faster and easier than ever.

We make the switch to Microsoft Dynamics GP as easy as possible and you can ensure your data is secure with the above functionalities in place.
